I'm lost what you're blocked by and what you're asking at this point. You can run weewx v4 versus python2.7 forever theoretically. You can also switch to python3 at a later date after extensions/drivers catch up to python3. So there's no downside I can think of re: sticking with python2.7 from a functionality standpoint.
I have two weewx systems. One runs the Vantage driver (python3) and one runs the WeatherFlowUDP driver (python2).
