Ummmmm - not quite. There is no such thing as 'Belchertown 1.2 master'. There is the released v1.2 and there is a rolling 'unreleased' master of whatever might come next. A quick look says that there have been 137 commits to master after 1.2 was released in September, so if you simply run off a git clone of master there is some risk until Pat releases a new tested version.
