This doesn't answer your question directly but it is something that might 
interest you. I just saw it a few days ago. It is an announcement of a 'not 
yet available' weather station kit from Pimoroni for the Pico W:

Since this kit isn't yet available and the Pico W is still almost 
unobtainable (my usual sources seemed to go directly from "coming soon" to 
"sold out"), you will have lots of time to think about your project!
