I'm not sure what Matthew had in mind when he wrote that hardware guide.
The WMII is not "supported", although there is a 3rd party driver for it:
https://github.com/jardiamj/wmII

I have no idea how well it works. Just browsing the code it seems
reasonably well written. Worth a try.
