You are right that the code for connecting to a MySQL DB is there, But the Database isn't. And it is literally impossible for any program to work with a MySQL database that hasn't been deployed alongside the installation process by the program itself. With SQLite, all you need is write access to a file system and there you go. It is not about if the hitch was already sold with the car, or if it is an aftermarket one, it's all about setting up the trailer.
