I'm actually not in Maryland -- I'm one of the chat's regular Canadian 
attendees, now living in the Toronto area.  I do intend to visit 
Maryland to research Carrolls someday.   (Incidentally, I can't agree 
with Gene on Maryland's flag.  As someone with a degree in medieval 
history, I can attest that it's one of the few well-designed, properly 
heraldic flags.  Ohio's is pretty good, too, but there are some awful 
ones out there)

And Carroll-Clark is my married name.  I was born just a Carroll :-)  
The Clarks are thoroughly British--both of my husband's parents came to 
Canada after WWII.
