I FINALLY saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail on DVD this weekend,
which I had to jump through hoops to get my hands on. I didn't realize
I hadn't seen it previously, because I saw most of the other movies. I
saw Spamalot, which was lovingly ripped off of Monty Python and the
Holy Grail, so I wanted to see how similar/different the movie was.
This was the deluxe DVD edition, which I highly recommend. They have
the Terry/Terry (directors) commentary, and the Eric/Michael/John
commentary, and Terry Jones and Michael Palin revisit locations in
Scotland, and a BBC piece shot during the making of the movie in which
the actors are interviewed while on the set, which is fascinating.
You should definitely see Spamalot also if you have the chance.
Seeing an actor playing 2 or more characters in the same scene was funny.
