I seem to remember a rant like that from somebody somewhere, so if you
remember it too, chances are pretty huge that it came from Gene.

The most prominent example of a man named "Ashley" that I can think of
is Ashley Wilkes, the character in Gone with the Wind.

Can't think of a man named "Vivian" though.
