In short, there will be a performance of the work of student playwrights (with professional actors and directors) and a wine and dessert reception afterwards. Below is some more information about what we do and what will be happening at the benefit, if you're interested:
Young Playwrights' Theater (YPT) fosters literacy skills, arts education, dialogue and conflict resolution through theater and playwriting. We run several programs, including both an in-school and an after-school program through which we work with inner-city DC students and teach them to write plays. Each season, we select the best work of the student playwrights to be performed throughout the mid-Atlantic region on the Youth or Dare Tour. At the benefit, the six plays on this year's tour will be performed. They were written by students from such schools as School Without Walls, Bell Multicultural High School and the residents of Oak Hill Juvenile Detention Center. The plays really are incredible and it's great to see how the students express themselves. These kids have some really facinating stories to tell.
YPT won the Mayor's Arts Award last year for excellence in Arts Education.
End of PSA. I hope you can make it. If you have any other questions, or would like any additional information about YPT, let me know.

never heard the old ditty, I am not the person to introduce you to it.
I am sure Gene would be happy to.
