I was just as startled as Gene appeared to be at the information that
men should wash their hands *before* they pee. But it makes sense.
FYI, in my outdoor leadership course, we were informed that urine is
sterile, and so it isn't necessary to make sure one is x distance away
from a body of water before peeing. (Re: poop, the opposite is
true: human feces carry lots and lots of nasty parasites, most
notably Giardia. It's because of all the contamination by human poop
that we can no longer safely drink from mountain rivers and streams,
no matter how remote, without purifying the water first.)
