Reservoir water comes from precipitation, springs, and whatever
rivers or streams feed into the reservoirs. I can't say with
authority that there is no reservoir that doesn't have a tributary
into which a sewage treatment plant might discharge water, but I
would be quite surprised if there were a sewage treatment plant that
discharged directly into a drinking-water supply.
In any case, reservoirs themselves certainly can't be relied upon to
be clean. Reservoir water still must be treated because of
contaminants both natural and man-made -- animal waste, agricultural
chemicals, road salt, boating pollution, you name it.
Again, the main point is that men (or women) urinating in the shower
or the sink instead of the toilet does not positively or negatively
affect the quality of the public drinking water supply. Actually, an
entire herd of elk peeing directly into a reservoir probably wouldn't
have a measurable effect, either.
