Well, they are still as entertaining as ever.

The last time I saw them was at the old 9:30 club when I was just a
wee college-aged pup, and it was the two Johns and a drummer. I
haven't seen them as a full band before.

I was stunned at how much of a rock band they are. They still
specialize in geek rock, but they actually have a bit of an edge, and
their second guitarist really adds a lot to their older classics by
adding that extra riff, a little more feedback. The bass player is
solid, and the drummer is cool. Lindell is somewhat onery in his old
age - funny as hell, doesn't even look close to his age, but is a
sarcastic lil' dude. Flansburgh was very engaging and nice to
everybody after the show.

I found myself almost doing an old-school punk bob to a couple of
tunes.

They're still a little dorky, and still fun.

I mean, they closed with "Doctor Worm." You don't get a better song
lyric than "They call me Doctor Worm. I'm not a real doctor but I am
a real worm."

The opener, Michael Leviton, does ukelele music. Very `50s, tropical
vibe. He's funny, but his twee little songs were cute in the
beginning of his set, and annoying as all hell towards the end.
