When I was on a ski trip to Quebec's Mt. Sutton in 1998, I watched a local French-speaking family ski together on a fairly-well groomed blue slope as it transitioned to the wider green slope at the base. It was a husband and wife, and their two kids, about 7 to 9 years old, the boy on a snowboard. I had seen them on the mountain earlier, and they seemed like such a sweet, really good-looking family. A real stark contrast to the icy snow that had been pelting the mountain.
As they hit the green, the little girl fell. She cried "Mama! Mammi!" and the mother stopped and tracked back up the mountain a few feet to check on her daughter. As much as I could hear and translate, I figured that the girl snapped her boot buckle, about which she complained in French, punctuated with an audible "sh!t." I guess, given the circumstances, I could forgive her french. - Ray Bradley ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Great things are happening at Yahoo! Groups.
