Howdy Friends! I was sprung with a last minute business trip to Palau (a teeny-tiny island between Guam and the Philippines) and Hawaii (poor me!), and have been out of pocket for about a month. Hope you all haven't been too lonesome without me!
Palau is a crazy little country (pop. 15,000 approx.), and if you want cheap food, head straight there! Bottled water: $.40, egg sammich: $.65, round of drinks for the bar: $20, including tip. Things that made me laugh in Palau: their supreme court building was once a hotel; there are two traffic lights in their "big city," but neither are ever on; the "ch" is silent and makes spelling fun, and "yes" is indicated by a subtle raising of the eyebrows (and I thought everyone was hitting on me!).
