Hi Ellen, thanks for the welcome! Nope, I wasn't named after a dog...
though it seems like every other person I meet has had a dog named
Molly. I don't know what makes it such a great dog name.

UUism is kinda hard to explain... it has no dogma, only values and
principles. One of the main ones is that everyone is on his/her own
quest for the truth, and the only role of the church is to help them
on that path. So there are Christian UUs, Jewish UUs, Pagan UUs,
Buddhist UUs (Buddhatarians), atheist UUs, and agnostic UUs. Plus a
lot more I'm neglecting to mention. Services can be about any of the
world's religions, or philosopy, or concepts (dealing with loss, or
aging, or affluenza, for example).

A lot of people join the UU church when they have kids and want to
give them a moral (though liberal values) base and exposure to
religious education, but don't want the kids to be exposed to too much
dogma. I'm extremely unusual, being a third-generation UU.

Molly
