I thought braces weren't just cosmetic--they help you have healthier
teeth. I need braces and I'm 39. The ones I got at 13 didn't take,
apparently, much to my parents' dismay. It is hard to clean between
my teeth when they are overlapping, causing me to have gum problems,
etc. My front teeth hit each other when I bite down. So now I have
to go to the orthodontist. It looks like it's just the bottom ones,
but we'll see. Hopefully they are better than they would have been if
I hadn't had braces in the first place, because it will be hard to
come to terms with the knowledge that the braces I had as a teenager
were a total waste of time. To think I put myself (or the
orthodontist put me through) all that for nothing.
