Speaking as guy whose nuptials are imminent (11/11), I can tell you
it's not unusual for the groom to be somewhat uninvolved in the
planning process. Especially when it comes to the details. Do you
really think the average groom gives two shits about place settings or
centerpieces? Hell no, we just want to make sure that:

1) We're actually going to get married that day
2) We'll be fed (and hopefully the guests, too)
3) We'll be liquored up, but not sloppy.

Everything else is icing on the probably tasteless cake.

I don't know if your brother fits that bill, but it does sound like
your future SIL has some bridezilla issues. Ehh, it'll pass. Just
give her shit about it in a year or so.

As for the Thursday wedding issue, it is a bit odd, but that 4x cheaper
makes sense to me. Of course, I probably would have pushed to have the
wedding later in the season, or on the off season. You also get cheap
rates for those times, too.

Mike, whose groom cake will be an assortment of Ho-Hos, Ding-Dongs, and
Twinkies lovingly ensconced in Cool Whip. The topper will be two
Peeps.
