This made me laugh out loud:

I was thinking almost the exact same thing the last time I read the
Skymall catalog. But ironically, I did discover something that is
actually useful: A shoe carousel. This is a 3-tiered circular shoe
rack that can hold 18 pairs of shoes in a 1 foot square area. It's
about 3 feet tall. It's great for someone like me who has about 50
pairs of shoes and almost no closet space. As soon as I returned
from the trip where I discovered it I looked for them online and
discovered that Amazon sells them for $19.99, much cheaper than
Skymall's $50 price. Realistically it can hold 12 pairs, 4 per tier,
because 6 is kind of pushing it. But it's a fantastic invention.
Most of the other stuff, like Mr. Achenbach indicates, is truly
frivolous. Maybe some of you frequent fliers can relate? I hope I
dont' get so bored on the flight to London that I decide there is
something in Skymall I just can't live without. It's sort of like
what Brookstone sells, only about 10X as much stuff.
