The original 7 (better known as 7 Wonders of the Ancient World) are Pyramids at Giza Hanging Gardens of Babylon Lighthouse of Alexandria Colossus of Rhodes Mausoleum at Halicarnassas Temple of Artemus Statue of Zeus at Olympus
Probably NONE of us has been to most of these, since they don't exist any more. Some are completely lost, such as the hanging gardens, but portions of the lighthouse of Alexandria were discovered as recently as the past 10 years. I'm guessing that someone's just trying to update the list with stuff that folks can actually see now. Not sure if that's such a good idea...maybe they should just create a list of "7 wonders of the modern world." They have 7 wonders of everything else....architecture, natural world, balls of twine, questionable medical devices, you name it. So the whole idea seems rather silly.... Although, if I had a vote, Gene's car would DEFINITELY be on some sort of wonders list...along with his hair. --- In [email protected], "Ellen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > how about Acropolis, Angkor, Colosseum, Great Wall, Machu Picchu, > Petra, and I guess the Pyramids at Giza get grandfathered in because > a Seven Wonder designation shouldn't expire like a library card? > Aren't some of these in the original 7 wonders, or are the pyramids > the only ones surviving?
