As I think I mentioned previously, I learned this rule 1 day in
probably 6th grade, internalized it, and I was all set. I definitely
didn't learn everything I was taught in school by a long shot, and
there are definitely entire books I was assigned that I couldn't tell
you anything about, but I remember the plural vs. possessive "s"
lesson like it was yesterday. And we wonder why kids are failing the
"no child left behind" standardized tests. I'm sure Lynn Truss, the
author of Eats, Shoots and Leaves would get a kick out of that.
