No, Ellen, I didn't - believe it or not, but I don't hit on every
cute female writer the Post promotes. Though I do love those pictures
of Dr. Andrea Bonoir and Amy Joyce in the Express...I don't have some
deep-seated desire to mount every hottie columnist.

I showed remarkable restraint in NOT flirting with Ms. Alexandra
Robbins a couple of months ago, and - I know this comes as one hell
of a shock - while Rachel is a cutie and a fine writer - she's
probably too young for me. I'm not nearly as fascinated with the
chesty broad as you'd like to think, nor do I hold the notion that
every twenty-something girl wants to get with a thirty-something
guy.

Plus, I've only submitted a couple of things to Gene's chat over the
years. I think he's a wonderful writer, but I haven't gotten "most
favored nation" chat-trading status with him yet, like I have a
couple of other chat folks, like Rob's personal tech, Paul's radio,
or Jason LaCanfora's NFL chats. I miss the Quidnunc's chats - he had
the best taste in old punk and alt rock, though Jorge Arangure seems
to be stealing tracks off my iPod.

Besides, I do a fair share of food writing (www.dcfud.com) myself,
I'm sure I can be tracked down should a comely author want a fine
dinner in DC or its environs ;-)

I would suspect that Rachel may have interned at the Post, or, since
she's approximately the same age as Gene's daughter Molly, perhaps
they met that way. Gene's also a pretty recognizeable writer - hell,
I passed by him near Eastern Market a couple of months ago, going in
opposite directions in our cars, and there was no mistaking who he
was. Perhaps she approached him and asked for writing advice...or,
medical advice on her painful lower back.
