Stuffing a leather sack with feathers and sundry was also popular.  I
believe that was a form of early golf-ball

American football descended from Rugby, which originated at the Rugby
school in England. (I'm sure most sports fans already knew that.)

Probably animal bladders inflated. Human skulls seems fairly
