The NJ Governor car crash story gets better and better--here is the NY Times version: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/13/nyregion/13corzine.html
I love this for several reasons--he may not have been wearing a seat belt and thus was breaking the law (see "often does not" in story), and the New Jersey Governor's mansion is called Drumthwacket. You can't ask for a better name. Also the Times pulls no punches in describing candidly all of the controversy surrounding the governor's administration. My favorite part, which is a total nonsequiteur (sp?) to the rest of the story: "New Jersey faces a $2 billion budget deficit that Mr. Corzine must close by July 1, and questions have been raised about the fiscal and legal soundness of the state's accounting of its troubled pension system. He has been criticized by Republicans and others for failing to disclose the extent of his financial gifts to a former companion who is also the head of the state's largest union. And all of this is taking place at a time when federal prosecutors have subpoenaed records from the governor's office, and legislative offices, as part of a broad inquiry into Trenton's often-murky budgetary practices. More immediately, he was scheduled to leave Saturday for a five-day trade mission to Israel, his second international trip since becoming governor last year." As David Letterman would say, I wouldn't wish his troubles on a monkey on a rock. Don't worry, I don't think Dave has any idea what that means either. --- In [email protected], "Ellen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > The Imus thing is having a weird snowball effect: > > http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp- > dyn/content/article/2007/04/13/AR2007041300244.html?hpid=topnews > or > http://tinyurl.com/365nhu > > --- In [email protected], "Ellen" > <ellengoodman6@> wrote: > > > > Does anyone know the context of Imus' incendiary remarks?
