Thanks- I appreciate your 2 cents. I think you are right. I know one other
co-worker mentioned a crappy raise...now if I just had someplace to go to on
Monday I'd tell them to shove it! But I just can't go a day without pay.

          Here's my two cents:

If they take you for granted now, they will never be responsive to your needs.
They are going to raise premiums, give stingy raises, and no doubt shitty
bonuses if any. Without knowing the PTO (paid time off situation) I wouldn't be
surprised of that were stingy as well.

When you're hanging out lower on the economic ladder, cash is (generally) the
most effective means of showing value to your employees. Arguing differently
is a sign of people who fundamentally do not get your concerns and are not
interested in them.

Don't go for it, t'ain't worth it.

on this situation? I am currently in salary
negotiations with my employer. This is a temp to perm position. I
have been here for awhile and they have made me an offer for a
permanent position. My first salary request was kind of high - I knew
I would never get it, but it never hurts to ask! So they make me an
offer that was $10K lower than that request - which is about what I'm
making with the temp agency. I asked them if they could up that offer
to another $3000 to help offset the high insurance premiums they
have. You'd think I was asking for double the salary or something!
They seemed stunned that I even asked! I have gone way above and
beyond to deliver on several projects since I've been here. They have
a high turnover rate. I'd like to stay - but come on! My request is
only about a dollar more than what the temp agency is paying me--
cheap ass bastards!
They are supposed to let me know today-- I really wish I was in the
postion to tell them to shove thier offer if they tell me they can't
meet my request. I just can't support my family on what they
offered. I'd have to get a part time job and I am so sick of working
two jobs!
