I think in this situation, it's better to take the high road. So, yeah, you didn't get your side of the story in, but you're a better person for not trashing her although you don't get that initial satisfaction of seeing it in print. I can't believe they set you up with a republican, though. They obviously are going for the better story rather than the better match.
