I was at an event at a synagogue a few weeks back, and near the entrance was a (to me!) strange little shrine-like thingy with a bottle of whiskey and a glass and a plaque... I mean, I think that's a lot cooler than holy water, but I didn't like to point and carry on and ask dumb questions... Is this a standard feature for some kind of common custom? Or something weird for this particular place?
