Jeff is correct, even if you reformat the drive, your data will be recoverable to anyone who can download a program like File Scavenger. I recommend a program like Eraser, which is what I use. http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/ A job application lists your work history, which isn't quite as good as a SSN to an identity thief, but it's a start.
$200 sounds a bit high to me, but I'm not your target audience, as I'll pick up a "broken" computer for free and fix it myself. I don't think $200 is an unreasonable asking price, but I'd be prepared to let it go for $150 if they asked; they'll feel like they're getting a deal.
