A ditched woman has set up a support group called "The
Society for the Protection of the Unreasonably Dumped."
SPUD offers a shoulder to cry on, support and advice on
how to cope with being dumped. Anna Dale, a divorced
mum-of-two, set up the West Yorkshire based group after
falling for a man 10 years her junior who was also seeing
two other women. She was furious after they split in October
and formed SPUD to help mistreated people who feel that
they have been duped and have nowhere to turn. Telesales
worker Anna, 41, said: "SPUD is for people who have been
dropped like a hot potato."
A church wedding turned into a mass brawl after two brides
turned up for one groom. Both brides arrived at the church
in Kenya with bridesmaids, relatives and friends. But the
rival groups began fighting when the pastor stood up to start
the service. Police arrived half an hour later and broke it up
and the wedding was cancelled. The groom was all set to
wed Miss Lilian Anyango in Mumias, when Rev Titus Ikombe
stood up to greet the happy couple. But an outraged friend
of the 'spare' bride, Esther Atieno, leapt to his feet to protest.
The indignant groom then grabbed a chair and smashed
it over his head.
A Hong Kong mother and son have been jailed for forcing
a barmaid's head into a bag of live mice. Annie Li and her
son Poon Hoi-tat held the barmaid captive in the bar where
she worked because they suspected her of theft. Magistrate
Merinda Chow jailed each for three years after finding them
guilty of assault and imprisonment. She described their
offences as rare and very nasty. The barmaid, Ko Lai-mui,
told the court how she was terrified when she heard mice
scuttling around inside the bag before it was removed from
her head.
