There are calls for a Spanish-language website which
predicts the date and manner of its of users' deaths to
be shut down. The predictions are based on responses
to 23 questions like Do you like driving fast? Have you
ever considered suicide? And do you own a firearm?
Users have been told they won't come out of a coma,
they will kill themselves drink-driving and that they will
be killed in a terrorist attack. The website's designers
at Sycn Internaiment of Zaragoza claim that by answering
truthfully users will get the answer to one of mankind's
most frequently asked questions. The site has proved
a hit in South America but has also caused controversy.
One 14-year-old Chilean schoolgirl was told: "You will
die in 2018 slashing your wrists in front of a mirror."
Firefighters had to rescue an 11-year-old girl who got
her lip trapped while trying to scan an image of her face
into a computer. Catherine Simpson, of Ipswich, was
experimenting with the old-style scanner when she got
her lip caught in a roller. Her mother was unable to
release her and in desperation called the fire brigade.
"She just screamed," said Ms Simpson. "She thought
she was going to lose her top lip. "She's fine now. Her
lip's a bit swollen and she will not be doing it again.
"I just gave her a cuddle. She didn't do it on purpose."
A Virginia builder opened fire on a helicopter with an
assault rifle because he believed it was carrying terrorists.
John Chwaszczewski said he became alarmed when
the aircraft swooped down over his garage. He told
police the shooting was "a natural reaction," after having
watched the events of September 11. "Maybe I overreacted,
but I did feel this was terrorism at its utmost," he said. Pilot
John Sutton, who was picking up a local businessman,
will be charged with recklessly operating an aircraft for
his approach over a residential area.
