I wasn't able to build WildFly with weld 2.2, so I applied your fix on 2.1.2, but I still get the same NPE, unfortunately. I've put breakpoints in the two methods you changed, but they are not called. Isn't it possible to recreate the BackedAnnotatedType in SlimAnnotatedType$SerializationProxy when lookup fails, using the classname in AnnotatedTypeIdentifier?
