Was talking to Andreas just now at lunchtime, and what he said
reminded me of what Ffirebell said, and what I've been thinking also,
regarding the making and repairing of things: there never seems to be
enough time, resources, enthusiasm, or both.

Therefore is has come to me as did the voice of the Universe booming
from the mountaintops that perhaps a combined day/evening of making
and doing might be suitable.

For example, I have some tools and a workshoppy sort of area plus
access to a device testing area. Tools include hacksaws, electric
drill, some files, sundry associated bits and pieces. Other people
might have ideas, techniques, enthusiasm.

Also have big curved sewing needles and a bit of kevlar thread and a
few bits of tent poles, a fair amount of bendy steel wire (and some
stainless bike spokes) plus some wick, but I would not envisage it
being a "give away all my shit" sort of day, more like "bring your
toys and materials and stuff, use the space and equipment, and maybe
do some resource sharing as well, while listening to music" sort of
thing. Could probably go as far as buying a pack of the button-screws
that can be used to fix things to staffs, and some dowel, and
exhaust-plug-putty, etc.

So, what's the feeling on doing something like that in a couple of
weeks or so? I would expect a weekend to be best as I imagine it could
take half a day to get a decent outcome all round.

Mike
