Hello, Openwengo is definitely going to include "rich" communication experience.
If you have ideas about the right pattern / plugin interface to do such a thing, you are more than welcome to share some ideas / links ! It would be great to open an API for plugin development for such things as whiteboard, chess game, .. but the roadmap is not definitive. I think it could be more easy in this way for people to start learning the code and work on specific plugins. Regarding whiteboard: a nice thing (not so hard to implement) would be to exchange SVG diffs via SIP, and have an SVG layout engine at each end. I don't know if some code parts of projects like "inkscape" (http://www.inkscape.org/) would be easy to integrate.
