Well Gianluca was right.... the error was produced by SELinux in FC5....
after a great amount of luck I figure out that the error can be
corrected if you
do this:
1. Administration>Security and Firewall
2. enter root password
3. Click SELinux Tab
4. Click: Modify SELinux Policy>Compatibility
5. Make sure that check box on "Allow the use of shared libraries with
text relocation" is CHECKED!
That's all!! :)
Of course, this is assuming you REALLY want to loosen the security of
our FC5 box...
The proper solution would be to either ship a libphapi.so without the
problem (I think I found the culprit, but not yet figured how to fix
it) or turn it into a static one (which I am seriously considering...)
