A number of nice suggestions for a new name have been made on the list. I was just thinking of some must-have criteria for the new name, to allow the client to have success:
1. no trademark conflicts 2. domains available (even if we promote .org or .net, also .com should point to the same pages) 3. useable in many languages (& no bad meanings) 4. short (no hyphen etc) I also like Phonix, but it is very close to a number of European and US registered trademarks (Phönix, Phonixx, Euphonix, ...) which may make trouble. And the phonix.com domain is only available for 1500.000 $ (whois says). If we want to see the client as a real competitor to M$ IM or skype, then we have to face the fact, that 80% of all downloads will be for M$ platforms. If we use "k" or not may be of relevance for only a small (compared to all users) community of developers - luckily, running GNOME applications on KDE or vice versa seems not to be an issue anymore. --Roland -- Roland Alton-Scheidl Member of the Board http://osAlliance.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] M +43 664 1547588 Marktstrasse 4 A-6850 Dornbirn FN 218498x HG Wien _______________________________________________ Wengophone-devel mailing list [email protected] http://dev.openwengo.com/mailman/listinfo/wengophone-devel
