I don't have a problem with ffmpeg.
There are GPL implementations of patent-encumbered codecs, which poses
some problems for some distributors. Including Debian, IIRC.
But this is GPL code, and since I am personally fundamentally opposed to
the current abuses of the patent system, relying on ffmpeg poses me,
personally, absolutely no problems.
