was about to start setting up a new Google group when uriel said to me
"why not use the werc9 one? it is not like it is flooded with
discussion" so here we are. I hope werc fans don't mind a little extra
chat. :)
The big features of this release are getting POST working with
browsers sporting keep-alive, and the move of the big series of
conditionals out to a separate file. These two changes are linked, to
support POST with keep-alive rc-httpd must meter the input, respecting
content-length. With all possible calls to a handler contained in a
separate script, rc-httpd need only meter the input to the separate
script.
$blocksize is new. It exists because I couldn't think of a way to
implement the metering other than running dd twice for inputs larger
than (and not an integer multiple of) a certain size. $blocksize sets
that certain size. Running dd twice spams the log somewhat, but I
already found that useful for debugging a strange problem with a cgi
script.
Minor changes:
The cgi handler now reports error 500 (internal server error) if the
cgi script isn't executable or if it cannot chdir to the containing
directory.
A redirect handler has been added, supporting "moved permanently",
"moved temporarily", and "see other". I plan to make a documentation-
fixing release, 1.2.1, in a week or two illustrating its use.
