Details:
I noticed, while observing an MP game (on 1.2.4), that there's a bit too much
scrolling around the map while displaying healing.
The reason? Units seemingly close to each other are not treated in the
smartest possible order:
- Unit list progresses horizontally from left to right, regardless of
vertical position.
- So, a unit at the bottom of the map gets healed, map scrolls to next unit
to the right, on top of the map, which gets healed, then again back to bottom
of the map, etc.
- This problem is made slightly worse by the fact that computer screens
typically are wider than tall. This means that a normal size map often fits
on screen entirely on the horizontal axis, and only needs scrolling
vertically. (-> If the unit list & thus healing progressed from top to bottom
or vice versa, even this would at least slightly reduce the scrolling needed,
_if_ we assume like I did that usually (not always) more scrolling is needed
vertically.)
I know you can turn the display of healing off by e.g. accelerated speed, or
in the future possibly per type of animation. But if you want to see it, the
amount of scrolling could possibly be reduced.
The ideal solution (not dependent on assumptions like this) would probably
involve some grouping of units, and maybe even simultaneous display of
healing for the units that are on screen at any one time.

For a similar report on excessive scrolling with combat there is an old fixed
report as bug #3152.

I would support a scroll lock also, as suggested in bug #3116.
