Details:
Hello.
I like the new map border, and am aware that it is a work-in-progress. So,
please don't take this as a complaint, also as, IIUC, 1.3.6 was released with
this new border to enable wider feedback.
Currently, when you zoom the map to (approximately) "just fit" (in my case,
and most cases, "by width", but maybe in some special cases the same applies
"by height"), the map may still remain scrollable by 1-2 pixels in this
direction. Hence, my request:
Can it be made such that when the "fade-out area", i.e. "the faded border"
falls below the actual borders of the map "window"/"frame", the map is
automatically centered and scrolling in that direction ceases to work?
(This may be hard to implement though, as it's a special case. IIUC you also
can't request the game to zoom to "exactly fit window width", but the zoom
only works in pre-defined steps.)
--
N.B.: When I zoomed out one step more, so that the black "non-map,
non-fade-out area" became visible on the sides, the map, smaller though it
was than the frame, still continued to be scrollable within its allotted
space with 1 or 2 pixels from side to side. I think this may be a hint that
there's some small measurement mismatch in the area allotted to the "map +
fade-out area" on-screen.
This behaviour is a (very minor) bug, and even if the feature request is not
worth the trouble it would take to implement, I hope this minor bug can be
addressed. This way the player can, by zooming out enough, receive a map that
doesn't scroll (even by a couple pixels) if you touch the window edges.
I hope you find this observation helpful. (This was, as stated, "by width", I
don't know if the same glitch is present "by height", i.e. in up-down
scrolling.)
