Follow-up Comment #4, bug #3116 (project wesnoth):
As a frequent observer in MP games, I think it would be a shame to see this
feature request be marked away as "Won't Fix".
A simpler implementation, without cluttering the GUI, would suffice
perfectly. The fancy options of "follow this or that player only" wouldn't be
needed, but a simple "Do NOT scroll unless manually scrolled by mouse or
keyboard" would be great.
At its simplest, this could be a hotkey (like the current Ctrl-L for mouse
scrolling), and wouldn't need to be indicated in the GUI at all. (After all,
the effect of not scrolling is kind of obvious, same as with Ctrl-L.)
_If_ you think this would need an indication in the GUI, this could be added
to the right-click context menu with a checkbox. Currently, for observers,
there are only two items, and the context menu isn't (IMO) too cluttered even
for players.
In short, please re-consider marking this as "Status: None". And, let me
re-iterate, a simple "scroll lock" to only follow _manual_ scrolling would
suffice.
