Follow-up Comment #2, bug #9473 (project wesnoth):
The latest attached screenshot is a problem which occurs if you have old 1.2
content installed. This is not supported, I however already did change code
to no longer abort. This change will be included in 1.3.7.
Can the OP also check whether the assertion error is shown on the console (no
idea where that is on a Mac).
