Follow-up Comment #2, patch #782 (project wesnoth):

Several of the existing buttons (bridges, villages, castles)
also don't have all the different button-variants required 
for nice looking normal/active/pressed states.
So I guess it shouldn't be a big deal.

But anyway, I will look into button-making business...
