Been fixed since. You can get a fixed scenario file from SVN:
http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/wesnoth/trunk/data/campaigns/Sceptre_of_Fire/scenarios/9_Caverns_of_Flame.cfg?rev=19891&view=markup
Replace the existing scenario file with that one and then restart the game
and the scenario (from the beginning-of-scenario save or from the previous
scenario). Lava expansions and the rest should work correctly then.
