Details:
Okay, as already stated today in IRC, the editor does have some bugs (crashes
and others) when using Edit-->Resize Map. All this report is based on working
with the first map of two brothers (1_Rooting_Out_A_Mage.map, unconverted
map, conversion to happen with the editor). Here is a short list of problems
I found. I will start with the crashes and ways to reproduce them on my
system when using the unmodified map directly from svn:
1) Increasing Width and Height at the same time makes the editor crash. Error
message:
creating map...
error config: Illegal character in map: () ''
The map is not in a correct format, sorry.
No problem when decreasing both or only increasing one of the two. 'Smart
expand' makes no difference if turned on or off.
2) A negative value for the X-Offset (like -1) does crash the editor with
this message:
creating map...
error general: Map not a rectangle error occured at line offset 34 position
offset 0
The map is not in a correct format, sorry.
No problem with a negative value for the Y-Offset or a positive value for one
of the two. Again no difference with or without 'smart expand'.
3) Changing both offset values at the same time can cause a crash. Situations
that crash: negative value for x (see 2), positive value for x and y. The
resulting error message is this:
creating map...
error config: Illegal character in map: () ''
The map is not in a correct format, sorry.
When using a positive value for x and a negative value for y it does work.
Again 'smart expand' makes no difference.
4) When using any of the resize parameters the staring locations of the
players do get messed up (they are always moved by -1,-1). Eg player2
starting in the original at 9,4 does start at 8,3 although the keep still is
at 9,4 when adding +1 (or -1) to width or height.
5) All those expansions to width and height are not undo-able.
Those are so far all problems I had with the resize dialog. Looks like there
is in all no difference if using smart expansion or not.
