Details:
Easy to reproduce: start a campaign and get yourself a necrophage (debug mode
works). Advance to the next scenario, recall your necrophage and kill
something living: the feeding ability (a unit [event], in
data/core/macros/abilities.cfg) won't trigger.
It won't work even if you do this: start a campaign, get a necrophage and
kill (or not) something with it, advance to the next scenario, create a new
necrophage (instead of just recalling the old), and kill something with the
new one.
However, this was rather curious: I set the AI enemy of the first scenario of
a campaign to recruit necrophages, and after he did, I advanced to the next
scenario. There I spawned a necrophage for myself, killed something with it,
and the feeding worked.
P.S. If some unique id=-like identifier for unit [event]s helps in fixing
them properly (I'd imagine it could make it easier to check and make sure the
same event isn't added multiple times, for instance), then feel free to add
something like that. It isn't any kind of a burden for the WML author to add
identifiers like that.
