Details:
I was playing through the "An Orcish Incursion" campaign and noticed that the
final foe killed in each scenario (usually a high level boss) usually doesn't
seem to give XP to the unit which killed it. This <i>may</i> be limited to
situations where the victorious unit would be promoted. I will experiment
further to see whether it occurs in other campaigns and to units who won't be
promoted.
