Your change on IRC did fix the patch.
There were still a few style issues left, but I'll fix them.
There's one problem left, how the data stored in the preferences isn't really
portable (in a chat (foo), can be used).
A better solution would be something like this.

I'll commit the patch as is, since you have commit access you can fix the
