Follow-up Comment #3:
Have you already checked if 1.4.3 works for you? Probably this is was fixed
with some changes in the build system that happened lately.
Beside this: Could you retry with a clear userdata dir? For OSX this datadir
should be in ~/Libraray/Preferences/Wesnoth/data/. Please clean this dir and
check if it helps. Though the most promising thing to test is checking if the
new 1.4.3 binary works as expected.
