Follow-up Comment #4, bug #12252 (project wesnoth):

This bug is still present in the version of wesnoth carried by intrepid repos
(1.4.5).

In the attached save, the orc warrior tries to move next to the mage but is
ambushed by the ranger. Then, the goblin archers try to do the exact same
move, and when they stumble upon the hidden ranger, the game crashes to
desktop.

the attached --log-info=all output shows that the crash is similar.

I tried to reproduce the crash using wesnoth 1.4. on windows, but the turn
proceeds correctly (eg, the archers bypass the ranger and go for the mage
through other path).

Is it possible that the fix was omitted in the packaged version of wesnoth
for intrepid?
