Follow-up Comment #2, bug #12880 (project wesnoth):
This sounds reminescent of a SDL bug we've seen on Windows quite a while ago.
Could you try a different SDL version (1.2.11 for instance)? Also, a debug
build with a backtrace would be very helpful.
