Follow-up Comment #2, bug #13269 (project wesnoth):
It appears to me that g++ 3.4 produces a warning (not an error) if you try to
assign a negative literal to an unsigned type. Can you try compiling without
-Werror (./configure --disable-strict-compilation if you're using the
autotools build system) and see if that allows it to compile?
